Esp8266 Visual Studio Codes
Hi,I've been developing a Visual Studio Code extension for NodeMCU. I've just released the first version today.
The ESP8266 core for Arduino or ESP32 core for Ardiuno needs to be installed on your computer. For the ESP8266, it is best to use the Arduino IDE 's Board Manager (Tools/Board/Board Manager.) or use the Arduino for Visual Studio Code 's Arduino: Board Manager command.
I have the Arduino for Visual Studio Code from Microsoft v0.2.29 (latest version) extension installed, and ESP8266 Community board definitions v2.6.3 installed. I'm using the U8g2 library by Oliver, v 2.27.6. The ESP8266 is a low-cost Wi-Fi microchip, with a full TCP/IP stack and microcontroller capability, produced by Espressif Systems in Shanghai, China. The chip first came to the attention of Western makers in August 2014 with the ESP-01 module, made by a third-party manufacturer Ai-Thinker. This small module allows microcontrollers to connect to a Wi-Fi network and make simple TCP/IP.
In this version, It's supporting some intellisense and lua error detection (linter) and lua file optimization. Also, It can upload lua file to NodeMCU hardware.![Studio Studio](/uploads/1/1/8/3/118304764/765753790.png)
I want to improve the intellisense support with documentation in future.
Currently I'm using it on my Mac and don't tried it on Windows.
If you are interested and want to suggest something or report a bug, please feel free to write on https://github.com/fduman/vscode-nodemcu/issues
You can find the extension on https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/it ... de-nodemcu

Thanks. - Tue Jan 31, 2017 2:49 pm#61832 Hey Folks,
Nodemcu Esp8266 Visual Studio Code
There is a VS extension for Lua, it's terrible. There is also a plugin for Visual Studio Code (.NET core) aimed at ESP8266 but it is somehow even worse. ESPlorer does a fair job of Lua syntax and upload to the chip, and while I donated some cash for my frequent use it is a bad development environment (sorry 4ref0nt).
